A Troll Under The Bridge!
-
_The signposts had been there for weeks, most travellers likely dismissing them as a joke. "Beware of Troll!" Hah, an old fishwife's tale, surely?
But one day, two knights come running as fast as their fullplates allow, heavy footfalls thundering across the bridge._
"Release the boy, foul creature, and face your judgement!", the female one shouts - inbetween gasping breaths of air. The male knight, longer of leg, goes first and suddenly a gaseous cloud covers the bridge.
As the cloud disperses, a great red troll stands there, wickedness gleaming in its beady eyes. With sword, hammer and faith, the troll is slain - but as the knights stand there panting, a woman - the would be grieving mother of the supposedly lost child - comes walking cheerily across.
"Where's my cut, tr-…"
She trails off, spotting the two very living knights, and the troll, defeated, then turns to run. The thundering of hooves approaches the woman swiftly, the female knight yelling:
"Fury, fetch!"
Judgement is swiftly delivered by the paladin steed's heavy hooves, and a lifeless body strapped across his broad back. But as the trio head north, they remember..
"Don't trolls regenerate..?"
The troll rises as they cross the bridge once more, fully recovered, but runs upon spotting his foes. The knights and their loyal Fury chase after, but whatever comes next, this story does not tell.
