Slowly, Arae came back to the acrid smell of blood and soot. He blinked repeatedly, attempting to clear his vision, realizing in horor he couldn't see at all. His hear began to beat rapidly, fearing that he was blind, until the throbbing in his head allowed him to think, recalling what had happened to him, and recognizing he was blindfolded and bound.
Calming himself, using a technique he had been taught in the temple, he focused his other senses, realizing he was not alone. He could hear ragged breaths near to him, with a soft groan interspersed in between the breaths.
"Who's there? Maereil? is that you?"
The breathing became a bit shallow, and he heard on the edge of his hearing "Brother? Arae?"
He heard another groan from his brother.
"I think we are in a bit of trouble Arae….can you move? I am bound tightly, and badly wounded..."
Arae winced himself, attempting to break his bonds.
"No…they bound me too well...I can't get loose either. Any idea where we are?"Arae heard the footsteps, heavy boots coming near to him.
"Good. Elfs is no sleep. Now we make fun with Elfs.Arae offered a silent prayer to Corellon to make the pain quick.

The voice brought back the memories rushing into his mind, flashing back to the moment the Orc witch smashed him in the face, blacking him out. Araendel could remember the ache now, realizing it was not just he that survived, but a few of his companions as well….
"What do you want witch? Come to torment your captives?" Arae braced for the hit that was sure to come to him. Instead he heard the wet sickening sound of a bone cracking, then his brother's cry of pain.
**”Elfies not talk back, or elfies get hurt. Me's break fingers if me's not like words". There was a snort from the Orc, and a whimper from Arae's brother.
He offered a prayer to Corellon to grant him strength, to not speak out against his captives, and to offer solace to his brother. The feeling of peace flooded into him, but as soon as he could smell teh Orc near him, the rage began to boil inside him again. Summoning the will he had, he forced himself to remain calm. Bitter words and insults would do them no good here, not bound as they were.
"I understand….what are you to do with us?"He heard the Orc snort again, and speak something to another Orc in their tongue. There seemed to be a discussion of sorts, then he heard the captor's voice again.
**"We's gunna keep elfies….elfies make good work...good work, yes. Gormagh want eat elfies....me's tell him no. Elfies is not fer eats. Boss say so. You work good fer Boss- you lives."Araendel groaned slightly, knowing full well what this meant. He knew that they would use his perhaps now maimed brother to coerce him to "behave".
"Very well, I'll "cooperate" with whatever you want, Orc." He wouldn't dare speak about his brother, or any of the other captives that might still yet live.
Then he heard his brother call out. "Let them do their worst to us Brother…Corellon will protect us from these scum. Don't do wha..." The sound of something hitting meat silenced his brother.
The Orc snorted a laugh. **"We's keep yous…we's not make life good fer mouthy elfies though. You shut mouth-hole now!" Another sound of meat being hit.
His brother groaned, then fell silent.
"Now elfies gets to know power Boss has…"
Araendel could feel the orc's hot fetid breath on him, then the blackness of unconsciousness came again as he was hit in the back of the head.******
