_My Name is Kaeco Clearwater. I was born in Luiren seventeen years ago and in a few months will be eighteen years of age – yay! – I bought this diary from a shop before I left with the caravan, but I haven’t tried writing in it until now. Probably because I don’t know what to say, putting all of ones thoughts down on paper seems odd to me, I’d rather express my thoughts in music. Speaking of music, I’m a musician! Even though I’m not very good yet I practice every day.

I’m currently walking along while I write this because the caravan leader won’t let me ride the wagon – the meanie, I cursed him out in hinnish – but anyways, I am walking along with a caravan because I had to move away from my home. It wasn’t by choice mind you, but when my whole family is well…I put them to rest but I cannot return to the place that took them from me. So here I am in the middle of nowhere walking along with a caravan almost out of money. I have twenty three gold coins to my name right now, the rest was spent in the trip to a Bard School (ugh I hate the word bard, its Musician!) I heard of in the City of Peltarch. Unfortunately I couldn’t afford boat passage so the caravan is only going as far as a town called Norwick. I hope my accent doesn’t stick out too bad. We entered Narfell about a day ago and according to Mr. Meanie we are still three days away from Norwick. Ever since entering this land I’ve noticed how barren the ground seems even in the forests. It’s as if the tundra has crept into every nook and cranny of this L____________...

Sorry…I tripped while I was writing and now everyone is laughing at me. I think I’ll wait to write more once we stop for the night.

    It is night time now.

I earned a few coins by playing my flute for people around the camp fire but the meanie took it since I never paid him in full anyways. At least now I no longer owe him any money – I would hate to think what he would make a girl do if I couldn’t pay him before we got to Norwick.

I think I will just go to sleep under that big root over there so I have a little shelter as it looks like it might rain tonight though I hope it doesn’t. Maybe some prayers against the rain will help keep me warm this evening as my old cloak is failing to do its job correctly.
