Character: Adamantius FirebeardBorn second oldest in a family of three children, adamantius refused the same pious life of his father, and instead of working the clan mines he picked up the kuldar in it's stead. Dispite his fathers wishes and selecting a craft, he devoted his life in the art of useing the axe and learning military tactics in the defense of his people. The fact that it was a honorable proffesion is the only thing that kept adamantius from being a dissappointment in his father eyes.
So it came to pass on his 20th birthday that he was sent from his clanhome of bazzaran-loktor, and was offered training under the teachings of Barakalagh Obsidious Anvilform of the Skullcleaver brigade of Mithrilhall, much like all soldiers in the clan was. He trained for several years, than returned to his clanhome deep within the spine of the world. For the first time in many the entire family was reunited to once again live as one.
On the second wake of his return adamantius was awoken to the sound of horns and warchanters playing the bagpipes of his clan preparing the milita for battle. He gathered his armor and axe, and scrambled to the cave entrance only to see many scrammbeling to safety and others closing and locking their dwellings. He adourned his clan armor and unstrapped the shield from his back. The cries and screams could be heard as some was trampled from the stampede of his clan members trying to run for the defense bunkers, and central hall in the middle of the stronghold.
Adamantis climbed the ancient stairs of the outer gate only to gape in awe at the duergar armada that had assembled outside it. The many gathered looked as ants from the ridge below the massive stronghold. Taunts and warcry's flew from both sides as the duergar wheeled up large trebucket style catapults to the front line. They loaded burlap sacks into the catapults and launched them into the central courtyard. The cries and gasping from those that opened the sacks could be heard all the way to the outer gate. Inside the sacks was a large selection of severed shield dwarf heads shavin beardless, and the eyes removed.
The siege lasted for days as wave after wave of duergar tried to surpass the great gate of the bazzaran-loktor stronghold only to find defeat each passing time. But the losses were great on both sides. After maning the wall for countless days adamantius only hoped his family had found their way into the central hall and was safe. It was on the fifth day that matters turned bleak as the catapults had finally broke thru the outer gate. Cheers could be heard as the duergar entrenched close to the gate cried out and began to mobalize.
The ground shook from the many armored grey warriors marching into the great yards and halls of his fathers fathers. Statues centuries old, lay pounded to dust and scattered as if never made. The survivors of the assualt were rounded into slave caravans and marched deep into the twisting caverns of the underdark. Many perished on the march that lasted for days. Their bodies left to lay and provide food for the deep maler that roam the eternal darkness.
Adamantius spent many months enslaved from the duergar until he was sold to a drow noble from a auction block. On his way to the nobles city a ground tremor opened a huge fissure into the ground where adamantius fell into a series of tunnels. After weeks of roaming the tunnels he came to a opening in some foothills outside of jiyyd. After climbing out the tunnel it quickly collapsed behind him. His clan now battered and broken, adamantius sets out to seek what moradin has planned for him in his remaing cycles.
