SpiritsofTaan's guys and gals

  • Kalina Briine
    Age: 27
    Height: 5’8”

Perhaps the most noticeable feature of Kalina’s face is a deep scar that begins just below her left eye and runs down her cheek, disappearing beneath her shirt collar. If she has a low cut shirt on, an observer will notice that the scar ends just below her collar bone. Her otherwise flawless, silky skin is only marred by this scar and another, horribly deep and wide scar covering most of her left knee cap. However, this is often hidden by her knee-high boots.

Kalina’s burgundy hair reaches to her shoulders, and a lock regularly falls into her eyes. This doesn’t seem to bother her, and if seen just after a bath, she seems to prefer her hair this way, and fixes it so some of it falls into her eyes. She is often accompanied by the faint smell of strawberries, particuarly more noticeable after a bath.

There is no color with which to describe Kalina’s eyes. Often they appear to be a faint shade of dull blue, but that may only be the effect of her blue Cerulean Uniform she is commonly seen wearing. Sometimes they match the color of a cloudy sky, or the brown shades of the dirt on the ground; but, despite this, her eyes are constantly alert and often studying those around her with heavy scrutiny.

Her hands are small with nimble fingers. She keeps her nails short to prevent complications when swinging her axe, firing her bow, or working with a trap; however, she always keeps her toenails painted a deep, cerulean blue to match her uniform. Why she only paints her toes and not her fingers is anybody’s guess.

Despite the rather conspicuous battle axe clipped to her belt, her body is something to be desired. A slender waist with an ample bosom may atract a few extra glances from the men around her; if she happens to catch them looking, however, a smirk quickly jumps to her face. If in the company of men, she will often walk with a very faint, but detectable, swing to her hips to add to the flavor, but without being ridiculous.

Kalina has a large assortment of magical necklaces and amulets, and she is never seen without one on. From a necklace covered in small, dull blue runes running up the sides with a much larger and brighter blue rune on the center gem, to a small brown disc with a single red gem in the middle of it on a chain, she will often change her necklace to fit her current situation. Though the occasions are few and far between, she has a set of diamond stud earrings she wears only on special occasions.

If you’ve seen her in a dress, count yourself among the lucky ones. Kalina rarely wears a dress, and only does so for special occasions. She detests dresses with the passion of a zealot, and willingly comments how useless they are. She has been heard to comment that if caught in a fight while in a dress, she would first rip the dress off to get it out of the way, and fight naked. Most often she wears her Cerulean Knight uniform given to her by her Captain, Anakore. Her initials “K.B.” are embroidered into the left breast pocket of her blue leather jacket, and a row of silver star pins line her collar, denoting her rank. She also carries with her a set of red splint mail that matches the color of her hair. Of course, her most famous (or notorious, perhaps?) outfit is the one that gained her the nickname “Legs.” Tight, black, short-shorts and a sleeveless blue tanktop with a line of gold thread around the collar and knee-high black and blue boots prompted her ex-boyfriend, Uthger, to give her the nickname “Legs.” It stuck, and some of her friends still call her by her nickname years after their break-up, though it is slowly fading away.

All of her equipment is well-kept, despite being used so often. Her short bow, a gift from her Captain, is stored in a glass case and kept unstrung until she has to pull it out. Her battle axe, which hangs from her belt by the handle, was made by Uthger, and she has kept it in excellent condition, often taking it to the smithy in Peltarch to have it cleaned and cared for. Her assortment of wizardry textbooks and her spellbook show signs of wear and tear, but after years of use are in good shape.

Kalina is mostly seen in Peltarch, Norwick, and the Gypsy Camp, but very rarely Jiyyd. In past years, she was most often in the company of Anakore, Nars Barbarian (also known as Uthgor, a nickname she gave him), and Uthger. Lately, however, she has been seen with the paladin Sam often, her Captain Anakore and her Knight colleagues Demi Arkania Rei Can’dii, Eowiel Senella, and Naten Wingates, and also the mercenary Vashere Obarskyr.
