Destruction: evil or neutral

  • Hey all, as the title says. Is this spell evil or neutral? Recently I saw a good cleric casting it and I was confused. It's school descriptor is necromancy.

As a good cleric, I RP it as follows: Necromancy, per se, is not necessarily evil. It depends on your intent. I never use spells like Harm, Curse, or Animate Dead. I will use spells like Undeath to Death (labeled Necromancy) against undead. I would consider using Destruction to eliminate cursed or evil weapons, armor, or other artifacts.

    Ditto.
It depends on your character. They may or may not be considered officially "evil" (depending on who you ask), but anything involving the use of negative energies would be considered evil.

If Evil is not in its descriptor then its not considered evil.

  • I see. Thanks Meta. There are other similar spells then like circle of doom, harm etc that are just necromancy. These ones heal undead and harm the living beings. How is this treated (or should be) IC in narfell? It's not evil but it's something that heal evil beings.

    That answers your own question.

If the descriptor is Necromancy and not Evil then it is not Evil.
