    Story:
Blue Sparrow knew it was time to change. Change was to be considered carefully. It could be as dangerous as beneficial. But the Mother was change. The ebb and flow of light and darkness. But when that giant walloped her and sent her flying, she was surprised. She had mistakenly expected her Circle of Enlightenment to deflect the blow. Reliance on items was frowned upon by the Order. However, they did train us while we wore the Circles.

It was time to make one of her own. It would be a test of her faith. Perhaps it would let her know if it was time to move from being a Sparrow to being a Crow. She certainly had moved towards the Sun side… the martial side of the Moon and Sun relation. It was likely that she would not become a nightjar or a stork or an owl. But she left all paths open. Perhaps this was just a new Moon phase. But in the mean time, she would oversee the forging of her silver circlet. The affect of the silver would enhance the Moon in her.

She started by finding the moonstones. It was difficult. She attempted to learn mining from the locals. It brought he into relationships with quite a few fine crafters. However, she decided that the time spent in learning how to mine, smelt and work silver was more time than she could spare. She found that the goblins of the Rawlinswood to the South had some source of moonstones. Collecting them from such dark creatures would then serve a dual purpose.

So rather than make the headband herself, she would oversee the construction of the physical helm. She spent days in meditation. Remembering how she had seen her previous Circle made by her Masters. She would draw the engravings. Finding the right craftsman was easy. She was already apprenticed to him and sent him the schematics as well as work the bellows for him while he smelted the silver with the moonstone dust she provided.

Message to Master Gnarl Horst: Blue commissioning Masterworks Silver Helm

    *Master Horst,

I have attached drawing of a commission I am requesting from you. I have also included some materials that need to be included in the silver alloy you use as well as instruction as I remember them from my Order’s master silversmiths on the reaction this moonstone dust will have on the smelting of your materials.*

He produced an exemplary masterwork or silver crafting, as only a dwarf craftmaster could.

Blue was lucky that Selune had such a large presence in Peltarch. Her High Priestess of Mysteries, Lady Aurora Moonbeam led the church in the area… and had no Sun Soul to act as her martial arm, although she was familiar with the rituals required. And as Blue rode the Moonmaiden’s phases like it was the beating of her own heart, the planets would be in the correct position to assist in harnessing the power of moonbeams needed.

The night came, the band prepared and baptized in moons oak spring water. Seven times it was submerged. The headband already glimmered with the dust of thirteen times thirteen moonstone that had been crushed and smelted in with the silver that the band was wrought with. The interior burnished with the transcribed rantings of a lunatic set free on the night of the full moon.

Blue was prepared as well. She wore her white robes, stitched with silver. Her bindings of leather from a white stag. She had ate nothing, and fasted for seven days on blessed water alone. Her meditative state allowed for her to silently exercise her muscles as almost imperceptible twitches to prevent cramping. This event came about through Blue’s own death and resurrection on this same altar not two weeks before. She has since take a vow of silence to better reflect her Goddess’s silent power.

She was in a state of bliss when in the back of her head, she heard the High Priestess chanting. It was time. The almost constantly overcast Narfell sky opened at the winter equinox. The gap in the clouds slide into position to allow a single moonbeam at the exact time to illuminate the High Priestess, the headband, and Blue… right as the final note of the hymnal was sung.

When the cloud hid Her face from the world, a small piece was left glowing with her glory on the altar in the form of her circlet. Blue would have her Moonmaiden with her even in the darkest pit.

    Description:
There is a sect of the Order of the Sun Soul that follow Selune, the Moonmaiden. Being that thirteen is a holy number for the moon goddess, it is said that each circlet requires powdering one hundred and sixty nine moonstones in their creation.

In their training the Sun Soul wear these circlets to prevent serious damage to their heads. When a blow strikes the head, a shimmer of moonlight seems to deflect the blow, as if the monk were wearing a full helm. As the helm draws power from the Sun Soul’s faith in their Goddess, it only functions when worn by a monk of that order.
