Shadya of Skuld

  • The Halfling Defence League

    Age: Mid-20's

    Hair Color: Black

Eye Color: Dark brown, almost black

    Height: 6'5"

    Culture: Mulhorandi

Bio: Tall, physically fit, and possessed of looks that some would kill for, she is the very image of what many back in her homeland would imagine a paladin of Horus-Re to be. Though born into the nobility of Skuld, Shadya cast aside her family name at the age of fourteen, when she joined Horus-Re's holy order, the Claws of the Sun and Ankh, as a squire. Though only an average soldier, her unwavering devotion to Horus-Re and her fanatical obsession with her duty saw her rise quickly once she was formally knighted.

Her short time in Narfell has seen her endure something akin to culture shock. Hailing as she does from a land where her church is, essentially, the central political authority, Shadya has a natural tendency to assume that she will be heeded and respected as a leader - oft times without having earned that position among her newfound acquaintances. She tends towards the authoritative, giving orders rather than making requests, a trait which has understandably led to some minor (as well as one or two major) personality clashes since her arrival in Narfell. In many ways, the decisiveness which served her well in her homeland is more of an impediment in her new surroundings.

With that (largely incorrectly) assumed position of leadership, however, comes a strong sense of responsibility for the well-being of her companions. Though she often finds herself being the one far more in need of aid than they, she is quite willing to put herself on the line to allow those fighting alongside her just that extra moment or two needed to fall back and see to their wounded. To Shadya, her role is to see Horus-Re's will done; her own life is inconsequential by comparison.

Equipment Worn: Shadya's personal equipment reflects the long journey she's taken from her home in Mulhorand to the northern lands of Narfell. Her armor is made from a collection of plates sourced locally, as well as a gorget, pauldrons, and several other pieces from her homeland. Horus-Re's holy symbol, his own visage in a left-facing profile, is painstakingly painted upon her breastplate over her heart, while Mulhorandi script is hammered into the edges of each plate, bearing praises to Horus-Re as well as prayers for his favor in battle. His secondary symbol, the eye of Horus-Re, is embossed onto a square pendant which hangs around her neck and which she often brandishes as she rebukes the undead. Around her shoulders hangs a white cloak fringed with gold, with that same eye embroidered in black upon it. Elsewise, much of her equipment appears to have traveled with her from Mulhorand, and seems to have seen better days.

Equipment Carried: Shadya carries a small assortment of weapons, as well as a very mundane (yet large) shield of Mulhorandi design. Though in regular combat she appears to favor her spear - another item bearing obvious hallmarks of Mulhorandi manufacture - she has lately been seen using a lightly enchanted longsword whose crossguard is fashioned in the likeness of Kelemvor's holy symbol.
