System Overrides

    System Overrides

…contains the client-side components for all system overrides used in Narfell.

Note that if you have a copy of these overrides from before the date of this post, you should download this file and overwrite the older files.

These include the Wildshape and Polymorph overrides, Druid Summon override, Monk feat override, and Ranger feat and skill overrides.

These 2da file overrides will allow you to take advantage of the polymorph self, wildshape, and other class changes particular to Narfell. If you do not use these spells or feats, or do not play a druid, monk, or ranger, then you do not need these overrides.

    Included should be these files:

    • CLS_FEAT_MONK.2da
    • CLS_FEAT_RANG.2da
    • CLS_SKILL_RANG.2da
    • feat.2da
    • spells.2da
    • domains.2da

Place these files in the override directory in your NWN installation. They WILL affect how your copy of NWN interacts with other servers you play on, so if you play often on other NWN servers, be prepared to remove them when playing there.

It is recommended you make a folder called Narfell Overrides and keep backups of these files there.

  • The new file linked in the previous post contains three sets of overrides - one for Druids, one for Rangers, and one for Monks. The compressed file containing all of these overrides is 65k in size, so it should download in a second or two for almost everyone.

The changes planned to Druids, Monks, and Rangers, were made with the intent of making each a little closer to the archetype of the class and making them a little more survivable.

    Changes are currently as follows:

Monks become a little more survivable at low level, getting Uncanny Dodge at relatively low level.

Rangers get Tumble as a class skill, and gain two additional granted feats - Toughness with relatively few levels of Ranger, and Evasion with high mid levels. Note that the feat changes for Rangers will require a certain number of levels in the Ranger class, not just that the PC be of the requisite level and take a single level of Ranger - so they will basically require either a single classed Ranger or a Ranger with a very few levels in anything else, to take advantage of. Rangers who take those feats early won't benefit from the granted feats.

Druids get several new buff spells available at L2, and a more powerful version of Call Lightning at L5. Druid summons will be upgraded one step. The new version of the Wildshape override also fixes the horse issue.

Rebuilds will be available for existing Ranger and Monk PCs, if desired. In the case of Monks that will usually be a simple delevel and relevel, rangers may have to be re-made from scratch. Druids won't need a rebuild to take advantage of the new class features.
