::New rumours heard in the Mermaid::

  • A little stir was caused just outside the gates, as the known Beshaban priestess Elissa openly burnt a large amount of wine, sustaining some serious burns on her hands and arms. Later gardener Marty got into a heated debate whether or not such is desirably or even allowed. While Elissa claims it's a ritual to gain the favor of Beshaba and turn her gaze on the armies of N'Jast no proof of that has or can be found. Mostly it seems the ill luck struck right at Elissa, leaving her not only with burned hands, but also with quite an angry halfling to deal with.

  • Myeil Dralomar, Headmistress of Spellweaver Keep, has been spending most of her time in Peltarch recently, even with the portal to Norwick open. She can be heard reassuring anyone concerned about Haribo that Spellweaver Keep will see to it that the eccentric mage returns as quickly as possible, by way of the temple of Tyr and Lady Daisy Millern. Any suggestion of a romantic relationship is met with a stare that could freeze an Icelace polar bear.

  • _Rumours begin to spread that during the last evening and subsequent dawning of morning, A group of mages and Haribo 'the Great' Lanzurin spent their time drawing some kind of runic pattern on the ground near to the Peltarch Theatre. Onlookers began to gather and watched with a sense of morbid curiousity as the spell began to be recited. Some report that in the process of casting the spell, Haribo was engulfed by blue fire and subsequently destroyed by the energy within the circle, taking on the burden rather than let his 'assistants' die as well. Some cling to the more romantic notion that he had something of a fondness for the headmistress of the keep.

Whatever the rumours, Haribo can't be found anywhere.

In his wake, the rune circle hums softly with patient energy. It would appear that the mages successfully created a portal that links Norwick and the city, and while civilians and supplies can be moved through easily enough, there appears to be a force of will behind the portal itself, denying the creation for those that would use it for military ends._

  • _While the boulders rain down on Peltarch, and the city under siege seems to suffer more and more, the Beshaban priestess Elissa wanders the street a bit more to spread her specific branch of salvation. The pale woman who always seems to spare a warm and understanding smile for each and everyone, no matter how small or big their worries, gives away wine and brandy, and seems always willing to sanctify - or desecrate, depending on your view - the same brewerages, ever eager to advise people that now, in these dire times, burning and thus sacrificing these to the Maid of Misfortune is of utmost importance. She seems particularly friendly and warm when she suggests or encourages people to burn valuable or just important possessions, commenting on how every sacrifice Peltarch brings to Lady Doom will make the bad luck the army outside the gates suffer all the more harsh and cruel.

If prompted to comment on why it seems that the N'Jast army seems to be winning, while those loyal to Beshaba suffer from ill fortune, Elissa turns a faintly sad smile to the person, and compliments them on their question, but then invariably points out that it is time the luck changed._

"Too much good luck is a bad thing. A very bad thing."

  • No doubt entirely unrelated, in the period before the young potential oligarch's demise in the bath house, Mercy took her One Year Bath, shedding twelve months of grime, slime and stains. Perhaps the unfortunate youth gulped a bit of this putrid water down and that did for him? For the sensitively-nosed, however, Mercy's partially diminished odour is probably worth any potential collateral damage…

  • Nathen Ashald, a young nephew of beloved Senator Rath Ashald is said to have been found murdered in the bathhouse. This is the third death to occur in the bathhouse this year, though certainly the most notable. Rath and the Ashald family are said to be in deep mourning.

  • Another group of so called adventurers set out onto the icelace lake, and when they returned to Peltarch, it was by foot. And with them walked a gnome…

  • The Halfling Defence League

A small group of adventurers responded to a call put out by the city, and set sail with the black sails and Captain Sabre Seesaw a few days ago. By the time they returned, their numbers had seemingly swelled exponentially with the addition of several dozen strapping, heavily armed men - barbarians of some sort, by the looks of them.

  • A caravan loaded down with a number of crates and bits of luggage arrives in town, blocking the various roads for some time as men work to unload it with haste. While onlookers theorize about what may be inside the crates, the woman who arrives shortly thereafter, dressed in rich black fabrics and bronze metals, lead some to believe that it's likely to be nothing more than piles of clothing and other useless items that any other overindulged woman would travel with.

However, as others spot the woman, taking note of her vivid red hair and amber eyes, recognition strikes… and only one thought pops into their minds.

It's time to flame proof the town again.

  • An elven woman clad in black and blue plate is seen around the stores in Peltarch, looking to buy large quantities of lead sheeting.

  • The Halfling Defence League

A dark clad hin has been asking inn patrons if their "lookings to hire?"

  • Rumors are that despite the constant troubles to get food into the city, the nobles still engage in debauchery and waste valuable resources in their orgies. Of course, rumor would also make you believe that the Divine Shield admitted treason.

  • _Almost the complete Sails company, now also sporting Mark Kelben in their company, could be seen hurrying out of the mountains towards Pelt, as though chased by the devils themselves, then hopping onto the first available boat to Oscura.

Gods only know what had been after them._

  • Legion

General Grag of the legion has been seen around peltarch much more often of late. GOing into the defenders head quarters behind closed doors… He has also been seen acting very upset stomping in and out of the peltarch Jail demanding Laidy Diasy' release...

  • In the past hours, Dentin has been bringing boxes and crates out of his house and loading them up on a cart, helped by his wife and his son. The family carries a grim but determined demeanor, and are soon after joined by a few other individuals, who seem to have brought their own belongings with them. Before too long, the small group heads towards the south gates…

  • A once familiar citizen, a Druid by the name of Jerrick, obvious in Golden Runed armor showed up, walked around town, said hi to a few people, and retured to the mermaid, obviously unconcerned about what people may thing of his relationship with the leader of N'jasts troops.

He came from outside the area by the Kobolds, muttering something about stones and blessings to a knight in blue.

  • Rumours start that pixies have moved into the woods outside Peltarch as more frequently one is seen about the City.

  • _A new spate of rumours emerge from City Hall and the Civic District, as General Lavindo and General Ash seem to be meeting every second day for lengthy private discussions. The matter of the meetings is what is causing the rumours, with multiple theories springing up depending on where you happen to be doing your drinking and gossiping.

Those in the docks don't find anything unusual about the meetings, except perhaps how many of them there are, assuming it is merely both Generals discussing their defense plans for the City, to better co-ordinate the Guard and the Defenders.

Those in the Commerce District seem to think the Generals are surely meeting primarily to discuss the food shortage and the ever increasing selling prices the merchants are forced to deal with, though a few whisper that they may be discussing matters much more delicate than that…and when pressed on what, they just drink up and leave.

The Civic District residents are largely convinced the Generals are meeting about the closure of the Temple of Tyr, with General Lavindo attempting to get General Ash to back up his demands that the arrests be rescinded and the Temple reopened as soon as possible...

The gossipers are liable to admit it is probably some combination of factors, but they all agree the Generals are certainly meeting awfully frequently..._

  • Only a couple of hours later, the red coated Waterdhavian merchant is seen galloping south and across the bridge, not being seen again.

  • Legion

The city's Hin gardener was seen running for her life outside the walls of Peltarch, fleeing from an undead knight. The archers on the wall tried to take the creature down, but their arrows were merely deflected by its armour and bony form. The gardener attacked the knight with her sling, but it continued to bear down on her.

The Hin eventually fled south down into the Nars pass, disappearing into the darkness with the undead knight in close pursuit.

Folks who saw the hin flee would be amazed that such short legs could carry someone so fast!
