Rumors of the Valley

  • Buttercup can be seen doing overtime in harvesting mushrooms after Miss Rothe arrives. She spends whle days colecting she can. In the end though it seems Buttercup shares at elast a quarter of her harvest with the Rothe anyway, the rest going to be dried out with the rest of her secret stash and processed into Butterspice.

  • Not too long after Miss Rothe's arrival Juster was seen building a small fenze around her. Some wonder whether this is to ensure no one steals his milk or to make sure his dinner can't walk away. Either way whether or not Miss Rothe is going to be in the valley a while is under speculation.

  • A small crowd of curious onlookers gather at the camp in the northeast corner of the valley. There's rumours the strange beast grazing on mushrooms is called a deep rothe, and she gives the sweetest milk you ever tasted. But Miss Rothe better watch herself. There's talk that she and Buttercup Tealeaf will be vying for the local mushroom crop.

  • After a few days of absence from the valley Juster shows his smiling face again. Shortly after one of the aforementioned cockatrices seems to go missing, however…

  • A weary group of hins returned from Peltarch. Ginger, Charlette, Colner, and Merial had all left days before in anticipation of a Greengrass festival being held in the Lucky Ferret. But little mention is made of the festival. Instead, there's some chatter about a magic portal, demons, devils, vampires, strange magical creatures, a rakshasa, and the finest pipeweed ever smoked. Shortly thereafter, Ginger was seen plucking and roasting two fat cockatrices by the campfire.

  • //coughs and flips Gears and Merial's finishing places around Sure, try and take my glory away, why don't you. 😛

  • Another Apple Festival has come and gone. The citizens of the Silver Valley recently hosted this year's Apple Festival featuring contests of skill and might.

First place in the archery contest went to Silver Dragoon recruit Merial Shallowbrook, who walked away with a halfling knapsack as a prize. Winner of second place and a magical lute was gypsy camp sharpshooter Gears.

The boxing contest got off to a thrilling start as Gears lost a close match to Dragoon Captain Juster Little. Juster went on to take the first place prize of a masterworked silver hammer by beating Charlette and Frem. Frem walked away with second place and an enchanted crossbow, while Charlette received third place and a masterworked yew heavy club.

The festival finally over, several tired but happy smallfolk remained to clean up the valley and any leftover apple ale.

((08/27/2007 Edited to change the archery ranks. All I could remember was those bullseyes Gears shot!))

  • What a ruckus around that Juster Little's tent! Could anyone in the valley get any sleep last night with all the drunken singing and carrying-on around up on the hill? There's a pretty new face in the valley - a young lass named Berry. She's awful thin, but the pink's back in her cheeks after a party with several boisterous hins at the Little tent. Rumour has it "the loud one" was gnomish. Ginger Tealeaf was seen collecting empty pie plates, soup bowls, and bottles for washing in the early hours the day after the party.

  • Juster is seen, or more likely heard, asking around the valley about the three missing hins. He seems to want to know more about them, and more particularly, to know if any of them are known to be sneaks or skilled with traps.

  • The Silver Dragoons have questioned Kelemvorites at the shrine and gypsies in the pass for any information on the missing smallfolk. So far, few have spoken up on anything unusual happening in the pass. There's some talk about Banite and Umberlee-worshipping scum ambushing people in the Nars pass, but nothing to indicate they're responsible for the missing smallfolk.

The smallfolk defenders continue to search for clues on their missing kin. Rumour has it they raid the hobgoblin cave now and then in the hopes of finding information on the whereabouts of the missing Silver Valley citizens.

  • Two search parties set out from the Nars crossroads in search of clues about the three missing Silver Valley citizens.

Silver Dragoons Theaon Thorn and Leaf Featherfoot led one group into the hobgoblin cave near the gypsy camp. They searched deep inside the maze, all returned alive, but had no news to report on the missing citizens.

Council elder Ginger Tealeaf led the other group up the road from the Kelemvorite temple to the cave entrance near Oscura. The group reportedly found a backpack, but the clothes inside it were human-sized. The group returned to Jiyyd with a badly wounded, bound and gagged hobgoblin spellcaster. The hobgoblin was taken to the Legion cells, where his wounds would be treated and he would be questioned.

  • Upon hearing of Ginger's plan, the young hin rogue Merial Shallowbrook begins prepairing for a trip into the dank hobber caves and the darkness of Oscura.

  • @15634133f9:

It started with a disappearance. Juniper Bramblepath, a sweet and shy assistant to one of the bakers in the Silver Valley had not returned from a trip to Norwick with a cart of fresh breads. The cart was found behind a stand of maples just north of the Kelemvorite temple with no sign of the girl.

A week later, Orn Levercrank, son of a gnomish inventor, disappeared on his way to Peltarch to negotiate with a merchant there.

Recently, Hoppy Briarpatch, a handsome and gregarious recruit of the Dragoons failed to return from a trip to the Gypsy Camp. His bloodied dagger and pouch of pipe tobacco were all that was found a half league north of Sam's Hill.

After providing mushroom casseroles and words of hope to the distraught Bramblepath, Briarpatch and Levercrank families, Ginger Tealeaf of the Silver Dragoons sets out to find fellow Dragoons and come up with a plan.

Hobbers. It has to be hobbers. I propose we pay the hobber cave a visit to search for Juniper, Hoppy and Orn. Leave no stone unturned. The hobbers might also have sold them as slaves in Oscura. We're going to need a trip down to the slave markets to look for familiar faces. If anyone finds information about our missing people, please share it.

  • After hearing Drem's report, Theaon can be seeing looking over the tree line several times making sure no more hobgoblins come too close to the Valley.

  • Drem reports that she has killed a hob that was caught poking around the treeline.

  • Despite looking a little weaker than normal, the Grape looks very happy. Very very happy. Pretty much happier than he's ever looked before.

  • Rumour around town is that recently two hins bravely fought off a half-dozen large creepy crawler creatures on Sam's Hill. The creatures had a terrifying aura and screamed with the voices of children. Word is that the two hins stopped the creatures from heading south to Norwick, but that one hin died despite the best efforts of his companion to save him.

There was no sign of the Norwick guards defending their border. Some speculate they abandoned their post, while others suspect they were killed by the creepy crawlers.

  • A tired and hungry Juster returns to the valley once more. A smile on his face and a sigh of relief are present apon his return, then he head into his tent where sounds of cooking and sleeping are heard in abundance. The valley is once again more colorful.

  • Theaon and Scutum emerge from the swamp a bit winded but smiling. Scutum is later overheard to have said, "I need a brandy… being surrounded by that many trolls isn't nearly as funny as I thought it would be."

  • A lone female hin walked on the road heading south out of Peltarch. Before she reached the crossroads, she met three hobgoblin ambushes. The hobber thieves met her ogre club, and then they met their god.

Later that day, the female hin met two male hins on the road to Jiyyd, and they decided something mush be done.

The three hins walked into the hobgoblin cave. They found a woman's looted backpack, but no trace of her body. They searched all around the cave and inside the hobgoblin temple. Several hours later, they exited the cave - still no sign of the woman's body. But not a single hobgoblin yet stood.
