  • Darker Side of Arts.

    Dear Journal,

    i am still young, despite my physical age which i won't disclose even to You, my dear Journal.

    Modified Longevity Potion and Spiritual interrests somewhat alleviate pains, mine and of others.

    i've seen my share of Darker Arts, Magickal and not, of atrocities of the past and terrible deeds but i do not let them cloud my mind.

    i feel happy telling people about Nade, my Panther Familiar and dressing properly and bringing them little joys and lights in this gloomy frontier that Narfell is instead.

    as long as they find it helpful, i have will to live and to carry on.

  • Goblin Corpse Carts.

    Dear Journal,

    There are plenty of troubles and rumours in Narfell… I've felt i need to share just one at least this time.

    'There have been several reports of Moldy Rat tribe goblins pushing cart loads of hacked goblin corpses out of the coal mines not long after a group of adventurers cleared out the entire goblin hold, leaving hundreds of corpses behind.

    It is unknown where the Moldy Rat goblins are hauling the corpses, maybe they are giving the goblins from the hold a proper burial?'

    Goblins dabble in necromancy to large extent i should add, and since Skara's times they use shadows in particular - but they do not limit themselves only to this type of undead, as my wisdom helps me where memory fails.

  • Mystra's Way.

    Dear Journal,

    i went on duty again, and took my place in Peltarch Commons as usual… a night's duty this time.

    People were present in Commons.

    Then a spell happened, more or less known hin mage cast a Darkness Spell.

    People were quiet and i felt it's rather artistic... so i waited with judgment and arrest, as proper Cerulean Knight should.

    One woman left, i should ask her later.

    Usuall gossip and riff-raff, but hin mage gave a tribute to Ozi, Mystran Clergy.

    • 'Mystra guide You' said Ozi,

    • 'Yep.' he answered,

    • 'indeed.' i added.

    he should indeed follow Mystra's Ways, neither neglecting nor abusing spellcasting or not.

  • Spell Crystals.

    Dear Journal,

    What is a Spell Crystal?

    It's a tool - for storing spells the way they can be used by nonmages.

    They are extracted from remains of monsters called 'Magic Eaters' that dwell in the Underdark, very dangerous ones.

    i think it's a way and form of expression to give someone appropriate spell stored in such to protect her or him that way.

    Alone i can't handle magic eaters - they are very efficient at killing mages that are not prepared for such combat (most are not, including me). But i can buy such crystals if i have gold and someone does this for me.

    I should mention that at the current moment, not all spells can be stored in such crystals… perhaps with arcane research this can be pushed further. The stronger spell to be stored, the better quality crystal is needed, and they come from harder fights.

  • Lies, Corruption and Religions.

    Dear Journal,

    i've noticed some patterns.

    i think that Lies and Corruption are main problems of Religions and result in a Sectism and a Schism.

    perhaps that's what happened to Mystra, and that's what will hold her in future.

    i'll investigate.

  • Garl Glittergold's Holiday.

    Dear Journal,

    Trying to find the Truth, i've visited place where Garl Glittergold's Holiday was held.

    Tried Kebab, Ale and Torti Fruit.

    Listened to a tale about lioness and a deer.

    Learned about Garl's Relations with Selune, Mystra, Savras, Cyric and Tiamat.

    Deciding i won't find what i seek there, i left… turned Invisible and went on boat to Peltarch, trashing remains of food and ale on my way.

    i should mention Faerunian Gods.

    First is Cyric, Lord of Lies, Strife, Intrigue, and other…

    i should investigate him, especially his Lies aspect.

  • Isolation.

    Dear Journal,

    Narfell is a fairly isolated place.

    Judging from my experience, and i have such, abuses happen in such places.

    Why?

    Perhaps because space is constrained.

    I'll try to understand it better and share.

  • How to use Identify Spell.

    Dear Journal,

    How to use Identify spell if you follow Enlightened Energies, and work with Forms of Energy and Light?

    Imagine Enlightened Energy associated with Wisdom, such as Vairocana, then Identify with Him, Casting this Spell like that. Or with Saint associated with Wisdom.

    Then you will Know where this leads.

    You won't regret.

  • Marty's Rats.

    Dear Journal,

    On our way to patrol swamps area near Peltarch, we've (Nade and i) met two panthers - who turned out to be ex-senator Marthoussca Leaffall and her animal companion.

    I've confronted her with my accusation that she supports evil that uses rats.

    She said she cares for animals, nothing strange - she's a druid.

    We've came into conclusion that matter is important and need to be adressed, so that there's no plague in the city, and rats - who are also living beings - are not poisoned en masse.

    Perhaps we can use my Clairvoyant powers to find source of the rats, for now the clue is the City Sewers - lot of food for them there.

    Sewers is where i died briefly, with a visit to Fugue Plane, so i am reluctant to go there alone however.

    She will think, i will think, we'll see.


  • About Minotaurs.

    Dear Journal,

    What i can tell about Minotaurs?

    Very little, for i never dared this lair to the deepest end… it's so long a trip that my energy is spent before i reach this point.

    Other than in this maze, they are scarce.

    They are rare and unique creatures, that wield melee weapons... but perhaps not only.

    Are there holy cows among such? Perhaps yes... If yes, then we do not wish to kill them.

    I guess each of them has their unique fighting style, but being so rare it would make sense for them to be able to intelligently handle numbers of weaker opponents.

    Would Anheim win with Minotaur in a cage?

    I doubt, even if he mentioned something about attacking livers and kindeys in a case of facing Mountains of Muscles and such.

    I hope i am wrong.

  • Paladin's Patrol into Norwick Crypt.

    Dear Journal,

    I've visited Norwick on a Witch's intuition.

    At south gate i met two adventurers, who introduced themselves nicely. A dwarven paladin, i forgot his name due to following experiences of combat, my shame. Perhaps next time it'll be better. Other one i keep meeting, Shesarai, but i know of her very little.

    We went as a paladin's envoy into one of Norwick's Old Graveyard and Crypts, to challenge minor and lesser undead and kill demon or undead cow there.

    We were succesful, but several times i've almost hit Shesarai with my flame-weapon augmented arrows. It's was dangerous, but only undead were harmed by it fortunately.

    We returned, and i've apologized her… we did fine, i was pleased.

    I think i did it.

    I have seized control of an Esoteric Dragon, i do not know exact details of it's physical form - if any.

    It won't harm anyone, only egos of terrorists and rapists.

    i've started to enchant my ring, i've inherited from Attentus.

    i'll describe process later after it's done.

    Silver Loving Eyes Ring.

    Description: High Quality Silver Ring engraved with Compassion Mantra, it enhances wearer(s) Compassion's Wisdom, Empathy, and ability to perceive others' feelings, thoughts, and auras, sometimes just by looking in their direction.

    After reserving time in laboratory, and shopping for new Candle, Chea prepares for ritual of empowerment.

    She drinks Potion of Lore so she undestands better process of empowerment, and everything neccessary (nature of compassion, empathy, auras, body language of beings, ....)

    She offers her compassion to Loving Eyes, Enlightened Being that is known for it's Compassion and Beyond-Personal Good.

    She purifies Ring by draining unneccessary energies from it, lights candle with fire and light spell, then spends energy.

    She meditates, visualizing her teacher's properties she intends to impart to attribute, speaking mantras (spells) that imbue Item with dharmic (arcane) blessings.

    She crushes gems into powder and smears them in proper places using oil. Then she transforms the Ring magically, purifying it's structure from unneccessary elements, and engraving Compassion Mantra onto Ring. (Mantra is Protecting Sound).

    She uses potion of invisibility to impart it's properties to see what's unseen onto the Ring's wearer(s).

    Mantras she uses are: Compassion Mantra, Awareness Mantra, Enlightenment Mantra.

    Form she meditates on is called Loving Eyes. He appears before her and send energy rays around that build up into powerfield (mandala).

    Chea oversees energies as they flow, speaking mantras as neccessary and correcting errors as they arise. After proper amount of time, when all energy points are opened and joined with energy channels, she uses forms that give appropriate properties on each of them, then closes enchantment, finishing. She offers them to her teacher in her mind and is allowed to use them.

    Ring is ready.

    She cleans laboratory, showers, dresses and goes to take her panther familiar for a walk outside town.

    Perhaps someone can be helped there? She can use her Compassion anywhere.


  • Rats.

    Dear Journal,

    I've heard about rat plague inside a city again, and even noticed one near deserted kebob seller's stand.

    It is said that rats are eyes for evil forces, spying quietly and unnoticed most of times.

    They are plenty in kobold swamp, i kill them often.

    They carry diseases and it's a form of sabotage.

    But local gardener and ex-senator of Peltarch, Marthoussca Leaffal, seems to like such.

    Dear Journal,

    i write this with shaky hands,

    i had a lucid dream, after i met Anheim briefly.

    Old Mage i follow, perhaps Khelben Arunsun himself told me about the danger and hope.

    Perhaps Mystra is to be held captive, opressed and kept in a Sect. She would appear as dead in my future, but she will be kept in a prison.

    There will be those who know, who see her in her Art.

    But most will be blind and not, see her at all.

    I, Chea Allin, thereby ask for a favor and permit.

    To wear Black Cloak and only cloak in formal and unformal occasions. Rest of my dress will be standard issue.

    It's color of Protection and one of most important things for me when it comes to dress, to wear cloak dyed Black.

    It is quite utilitarian as well, for it can be used on missions if it's Black.

    I am not the best Cerulean Knight, and never will be if i propose this, but perhaps i can still advance somehow despite my APPARENTLY nonlawful demeanor…. and get recommendation for lawful behavior still.

  • Dear Journal,

    I've dilemma.

    My superiors wish me to wear Blue Cloak, as it's formality for Cerulean Knights.

    But my Black Cloak is better for reasons known to my Master.

    Perhaps i won't be considered lawful enough this way to get recommendation for Monastery and Yogi training that way, such are this world's laws.

    What should i do? Arrange for permit and approval somehow? Perhaps it can be done but it's not easy.

    I won't advance in ranks either if i wear nonformal black, i think.

    Advantages of wearing black cloak are utilitarian as well… for in case of rescue mission and frightened captives i can try to hide them under cloak and invisibility spell so they are calm and hidden while we fight... if spell's duration ends, cloak can save their lives.

  • Dear Journal,

    A while ago, i've requested a Cerulean Spell-sword Armour from HQ.

    Bureaucracy is terrible, but now that others requested it too, they approved my plea.

    I have to gather coin then arrange for details and get it. Two thousand gold pieces for lesser one that made is of studded leather. I do not need greater one for it weighs too much. Perhaps there will be additional expenses, maybe even significiant, for adjusting it's looks at Vanity Plates.

    It's a studded leather armour that does not hinder spellcasting and helps with discipline in combat.

    P.S. Soon after writing this in journal, i've got this armour and long-overdue payment, dear yournal. I've changed mind so i took lighter leather, without much fuss from quartermaster. He was prepared.

    P.S.S. I've deposited excess gold in bank, 2200 gold coin.

    P.S.S.S. Perhaps i'll decide for greater studded leather later, if i advance in Cerulean Knight ranks.
